To me writing has always been an integral part of my life, that is, I wrote regularly and I enjoyed writing. To me writing is an important process on many levels: it acts as a thinking and reflection process by articulating and structuring my at time chaotic thoughts. By expressing and making vague thoughts explicit, writing also acts as a cleansing process, by getting to the bottom of some emotions and feelings through a writing process, which takes off a lof of burden and frees your head for other thoughts and tasks. And then there is obviously the aspect of sharing my thoughts and opinions with the outside world.
Because writing is not my job, I am not forced to write, which means I am writing whenever I feel the urge to do so. It generally happens that a new topic forms over the course of weeks or months and as I see it surfacing more and more in my head, I am taking notes of the thoughts and writing up simple, incoherent brain dumps into some text file. At some point I then feel the urge to wrap it up and get it into a text that I can share with the world. This generally is a process of taking the notes and iterating them into something which is coherent, with a narrative and thread throughout the text and is easy and interesting to read. This will take me a few days as I am going multiple times over the same text until I am satsified with the result.
